FilmSlate

FilmSlate - As a student in my postgraduate programme in Product Management at KCL, I have been tasked with working on a project as a Product Manager, covering all the important steps required to release an experience to the market. While FilmSlate is a fictitious example, my responsibilities include developing the product strategy, MVP, and Go-to-Market scenarios, culminating in the submission of three main assignments and three peer reviews.

OVERVIEW

FilmSlate is a conceptual platform designed for cinephiles, indie film enthusiasts, and genre fanatics who seek access to hidden gems within the independent film industry. It offers an easy-to-use streaming platform featuring carefully hand-selected indie films and documentaries, aiming to provide users with a curated experience that highlights the diversity and quality of lesser-known films. FilmSlate focuses on delivering personalised content, improving the user experience with features like Single Sign-On (SSO) for seamless access, and reducing onboarding friction. Its mission is to give independent films the visibility and respect they deserve, ensuring they don’t get lost in an overwhelming sea of content.

Problem 

The onboarding process is long and old-fashioned, which can be frustrating for users, who also find it time-consuming to search for new films or documentaries. The platform fails to recognise their preferences, compelling them to sift through content they’ve already seen. This lack of personalisation leaves them feeling frustrated and hinders their ability to efficiently discover new and relevant content.

FilmSlate enables users to discover cinematic treasures with an effortless app on various devices. Enthusiasts enjoy hand-picked content reflecting our passion for filmmaking. Our service is tailored to user needs, providing deep content knowledge before viewing. The onboarding process ensures we know users' preferences, saving them time. These enhancements offer a seamless experience, distinguishing FilmSlate from competitors and making it the go-to platform for indie film enthusiasts.

User Story Mapping &Go-to-Market plan

I created an Agile strategic product roadmap and continuously refined it throughout the course. I developed a detailed user story map to visualise and prioritise user needs, while also evaluating the impact of product development on my MVP and future iterations. Finally, I designed Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy, and marketing plan and conducted data analysis.
